WHERE - Piazza del Sedile - Matera
WHEN - Sat Dec 7th & Sun Dec 8th
Piazza del Sedile is one of Matera's central squares, though set back from the main street's flow. The two days chosen for the ChitChat Audio installation fell on one of the first Christmas season weekends.
Many visitors were in Matera for the first two days of the Living Nativity, an event running for 14 years that mainly attracts organized tours (buses) with very short stays.

ChitChatAudio is designed to attract and engage people autonomously, without requiring staff supervision. No human facilitators—just ChitChatAudio with its intuitive interface interacting with passersby.
The device was actively used for 6 hours, one-third of the total installation time. Users listened to messages for approximately 5 hours and recorded an impressive 365 voice messages, totaling 45 minutes of recording time.
ChitChatAudio naturally captures attention and stimulates spontaneous participation from people.

During real-time moderation, we classified messages into two categories: Locals and Visitors. Thanks to the AI functions integrated into the ChitChat Audio system, we were able to perform semantic and sentiment analysis of all collected responses.
The quality of results and speed of analysis truly surprised us, offering valuable insights into public perception.
Street voices to social stories: the dialogue lives on
The power of ChitChatAudio lies in its street presence: capturing urban voices through a spontaneous, playful experience. And when you're on the street, you have the entire human circus before you with all its extraordinary variety and complexity.
Here are some of the reels shared online—authentic voices captured from the street and transformed into content ready to be discovered, appreciated, and shared.
